Motion Computing J3400 Tablet PC is perfect for Pilots – Test flight in Piper Cherokee Six from YMMB

We take the Motion Computing J3400 for a test flight from Moorabbin Airport YMMB. We compare the trusty ancient HP TC1100 (out of production) to the new Motion J3400. In particular we compare the screen performance of a typical Tablet PC with the superior Motion Hydis AFFS+ show. As you will see, using a Tablet PC in the cockpit makes flight management much simpler. You can take down quick ink notes (frequencies, clearances, runways etc) while also viewing maps and approach plates. In fact, you could probably carry with you all of the information that you will ever need with you in the cockpit. The J3400 can also run one of a number of flight plotting applications that will allow you to plot your flight, submit your flight plot to Airservices Australia, and follow your flight plot on a moving map. The J3400 can also seamlessly hook up to your GPS via Bluetooth. Motion Computing have always been a leader in indoor / outdoor show technology. They don’t use the dumb ancient approach of ramping up the backlight and marketing on how many nits their show has (Nits is a measure of brightness, not a hair infestation). Motion’s reflective and transflective show gives by far the best performance of any show in a bright environment and it does so with only a small amount of power – and that means maximum battery life in the air! To cap it off we perform an instrument approach in a heavy crosswind… Quite a ride! For more information on the J3400 visit: www.tabletpc.com.au
