Tablet PC’s in Software Design Education: A submission to the WIPTE Video Contest

The Greatest Laptop Deals found only at Laptop Hunt.

This video was taken from a session in the Informatics 121 Software Design class at UC Irvine taught by AndrĂ© van der Hoek. The tablet pc’s, coupled with our software tool Calico, have enabled students in our Software Design class to become active participants in engaged, studio-like settings rather than passive observers. This video gives an inside look into the change in group dynamics that tablet technology has brought to our classroom. For more information, you can visit our website: calico.ics.uci.edu

Tablet PC: www.TabletPC.TV, http We could use a hammer. Instead we use our xTablet Tablet PC. We do this to prove a point. Our xTablet is rugged and durable enough to take the beating of hammering in dozens of nails. Without a glitch. We attached an accelerometer with a real-time graph running on the screen to show the actual impact forces the Tablet PC is enduring. Notice the lines on the graph that are made when the tablet is bumped and swung up and down…. Now notice the graph as the Tablet PC impacts the nails. It takes a beating. It endures up to 10 g forces in shock as it hits the nail. Check out the minor denting where the tablet strikes the nail. And the graph is still running. Only minor case hurt. Still running like a champ!
