I reckon the trackpad difference between the 900 and 900a is really hardware and not just firmware – I read elsewhere that the 900a doesn’t have hardware support for multi-touch gestures because it’s a different brand of trackpad. I guess this is a cost-cutting measure to keep the price down with the upgraded processor, like with the SSD speed you mentioned? Anyway, thanks for your brilliant review. I have had a 900 for about 1.5 years which I run linux on and use for coding and physics calcs.
I have this eee pc for a year now and I am using it everyday. Checking e-mail, skype and web browsing, that is what I need comuter for. Only reckon I want to improve is battery life, but maybe I shoud buy the newer Eee PCs. I feel nostalgic using the 9 inch netbook, why are netbooks getting larger and larger , soon they will reach a normal notebook size. Keep up the fantastic work Jkk! Like your every single video!
Yeah, would work just fine. If you are using Linux on it, there is a Linux version of Limewire. And then instead of iTunes you can use gtk-pod, which will sync to any iPod without erasing your music collection.

Trust me, eeebuntu can do everything xp can on these machines, as the main thing you’d need windows for is gaming and photoshop – which this system can’t handle. hi my school is offering me this laptop for £195 with linux installed and the 6 hour battery life version is it worth getting for that price or are there other laptops out there which are better value for money and how does the linux operating system compare to microsofts windows xp? thanks
i bought a 900a awhile ago i upgraded the ssd to a 128gb im getting about 100 read and 50 write its quite quick.
i also use gma booster for the gpu and im playing f.e.a.r just fine

How come on there website it says the EEEPC 900A’s have a .3 meg webcam when online some dont have webcams? and do you know if you can possibly add it in later?
btw i searched for the 900a on a swedish shopping site but it didnt show up. It has all others like 901 and 900 and older models. is there any other name for it or something???
i place a 64gb ssdd and 2gb of ram then installed 7 w/ a thumbdrive. it screams for a small guy!

you can place a back and forward and remove them using firefox cant you?

i have a 900a white 4gb model with ubuntu on it. its awsom
can u dowload stuff like limewire and itunes
The cam quality looks better than the dell mini 9.
But I still reckon the mini 9 is both smaller quick and better looking.

How much battery life has it got?
It’s not sold in Sweden but you could order one from usa or germany..
Only non shiny ones are ancient celeron version like Eee 900 and 701
